I had been suffering from a pressing, nagging pain on my two hips for some time, but at the end of June I got a stabbing pain on both hips after an overuse. Because we were about to go on holiday, I went to the doctor. She prescribed anti-inflammatory drugs, but they did not work. Then she sent me on for an ultrasound of the hips showing an acute bursitis on the right hip and to a lesser extent on the left.
In order to be able to leave on holiday, the orthopedist gave me an injection of cortisone, a strong anti-inflammatory drug, in both hips.
I should have found relief soon but on holiday the pain only increased. I could barely walk short distances and had a lot of pain especially when walking uphill or climbing stairs. Also sleeping was hardly possible because of the pain on the side of the hips, which made it impossible to lie on one side.
At the beginning of August, I had a new appointment with the orthopedist who gave another injection of cortisone in the inflamed bursa of my hips. But even now the pain didn’t subside and I had to cancel more and more activities. I made a new appointment with the orthopedist who now, because I had reacted badly to the previous injection, gave me an infiltration with another product. According to him, the effect of this injection would take longer, but it would have to last longer. This was the last possible injection, because repeating this injection more than three times can also cause damage to the joint.
Meanwhile, several people from the church also prayed for me and although the symptoms seemed to alleviate a little, they came back afterwards. The inflammation became chronic and new injections were no longer an issue.
I was therefore very much looking forward to the healing service at the beginning of December. At one point that evening Hugo made an appeal for people who had problems with the tendons or muscles of the leg. I hesitated for a moment, the hip may not be the leg, but I went forward anyway. This revelation was for me!
Hugo spoke about Psalm 52 that evening and quoted verse 3: "God's mercy lasts all day", so even today and again tomorrow. He prayed for me and asked me to walk around to see if the pain was gone. That did not happen right away and during the walk around the hall, I was prayed for again ... until the pain had to go in Jesus’ Name, thank you Father!
I am able to walk again without a problem, also sleeping goes well now that I can lie on my side again without pain and this on both sides. I even dared to make a run to the bus on the corner of our street and it went without any problem. Thank You Jesus, that is good after all this time!
The verse from Psalm 52 gave me perspective and healing and now I hold on to that. I want to end with the beautiful final verses of psalm 52 :”But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever. For what you have done I will always praise you in the presence of your faithful people. And I will hope in your name, for your name is good.”
