A presentation with confidence

Dora tells her story: “Four years ago I gave my life to Jesus. I faced breast cancer, but also emotionally I wasn’t doing well. Jesus healed me miraculously from the breast cancer and slowly I learned He wants to heal me in so many other areas as well.

My job includes giving presentations several times every year. My lack of confidence has been an inhibition for years. I literally could not get to sleep in the weeks preceding a presentation because of discomfort and fear. Again this year four talks were planned during the months of May and June. We usually reach some 300 teachers in 4 different locations. Stress crept in again, especially because these teachers form a very critical audience. I told Ann of this fear and she advised me to see these people just like God sees them: often it are the hurt people that hurt others. I had recorded already quite some blessings in my ‘blessings’ notebook, so I thought I’d better give it another try. During the sermon at church these words struck me: “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me and He lives in me.” So I started to speak out these words over my life.

The first presentation went well, with positive reactions. Before the second lecture, a teacher who also gave part of the presentation told me she was so nervous and that I didn’t seem to have problems with talking in front of an audience as I was looking so relaxed…

On the way home I realized how wonderfully God gave me strength and also that for the first time in years I just left the Xanax (a tranquillizer) that I normally always take in those circumstances, in my bag. I’m looking forward to the coming lectures with a lot of confidence. Thank you Father! You give me all the strength because You live in me.”
